music by The Pan-Tones
I’m very happy about everything I worked on in 2022. Day by day, it sometimes feels like progress is slow. But when I think back on the year as a whole, I did a lot!
Here are some things I loved in 2022:
– Starting a flute band, The Pan-Tones
-Working with Mark Sparks on the mock audition (and more)
-Making a ton of arrangements (and selling some copies from my online shop!)
-Working with Helen Blackburn, and my first professional orchestra experiences with The Dallas Opera
-Learning to sing, skateboard, and play the accordion
I’m very optimistic and excited for 2023. I have so many ideas that I can’t wait to tackle, and I feel very well supported by my family and mentors.
I’ve said it before, but it feels really amazing to have the thing I’ve been working on for 8 years (professional orchestral playing) finally becoming my actual life.
There were definitely times in there that I thought it would never happen. Part of the mental process I went through was to accept that even if I never ended up with an orchestral job, I still wanted to take auditions, and do what I was doing.
So far, it has been a slow, sometimes difficult, but always rewarding journey. I never felt like I wanted to give up- I always felt like I wanted to do better the next time. That’s what keeps me coming back!
