I started learning Le Nozze di Figaro a couple of weeks ago, and this aria struck me because I thought the melody sounded like a slow movement of a flute concerto… which of course it isn’t. However, it is somewhat similar to the opening of Andante Religioso, K 622.

Such a beautiful melody. If I could sing it, I would. Actually, I did sing it- an octave lower- and I was surprised by how much it changed the sound. The quality of the voice is so much a part of the sound of opera.
