Ratita

“Little Mouse” – Carnivalito (Carnival Dance from Deni and Sta. Cruz), Bolivian folk music. From the album “Folklore de Bolivia, Vol. 2” (1994) by Ukamau, led by Hery Cortes.

*The original version is played on Zampoñas, a reed pipe, known in Europe as pan flute. Since it takes time to physically move from one pipe to the next, the melody is split between two players to create a continuous musical line.

Arr. Robert Hokamp

Naquele Tempo

“In that time” (1946), Brazilian choro by Pixinguinha (1897-1973), Brazilian flutist, saxophonist, composer, and conductor.

Arr. Robert Hokamp

Sinfonia No. 40

By Los Laikas, based on themes from Mozart’s Symphony No. 40. From their album Los Laikas 3 (1973).

Arr. Alyse Hokamp

Merry Go Round of Life

By Joe Hisaishi (b. 1950), from the 2004 Studio Ghibli animated film Howl’s Moving Castle.

Arr. Alyse Hokamp

Libertango

By Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992).

Arr. Klaus Jäckle and Robert Hokamp.

Concierto para Ritmo

From the Los Destellos album Sicodélicos (1968).

We originally learned this song with a different band, Los Patos Poderosos, back in 2015. Patos existed in several incarnations, and Robert, Alyse, and Connor played together in that group.

Arr. Robert Hokamp

Kacharpari

Based on recordings by Los Incas (re-released on a 2002 compilation) and Los Caballeros (1974).

Los Incas (aka Urubamba) was directed by the Argentinian composer and world-renowned charanguista Jorge Milchberg (1928-2002).

Arr. Alyse Hokamp

Segura Ele

“Grab him!,” Brazilian choro, also by Pixinguinha.

Arr. Robert Hokamp

Note: Paula Robison has a 1993 album of choro (aka chorinho) music that includes recordings of Segura Ele and Naquele Tempo!
